SOUTH SIOUX CITY, Neb. (KTIV) - A man who was once a sheriff for a Northeast Nebraska county has been arrested and is facing several charges, including multiple counts of possession or receiving child sexual abuse material.
The South Sioux City Police Department says 78-year-old James Wagner, the former Dakota County Sheriff, was arrested on Thursday, Oct. 30. According to police, he was arrested after showing up to meet someone he believed was a minor girl, but was an undercover officer.
Police say this started on Friday, Oct. 24, when a concerned parent contacted law enforcement. The parent told authorities they had discovered multiple texts between their daughter and Wagner.
