CHARLEROI, Pa. —
A food manufacturing plant in Washington County could stay open under a new owner if a deal is reached.
Fourth Street Barbeque is located just outside of Charleroi and employs many of the town’s residents. The company announced plans to shut down in early October, citing $80 million of defaulted loans. Advertisement
The plant’s more than 250 workers were set to be out of a job by Friday, Oct. 31; however, work inside the facilities has continued.
A newly appointed representative of the company shared with Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 what could happen moving forward: either a deal is reached with a buyer or operations begin winding down.
“With the different plants closing and this and that, I'm worried about the town,” Charleroi Mayor Gregg Doerfler said.
