As the Strip District continues to move away from its industrial roots, yet another defunct warehouse may soon get a second life as an apartment complex and grocery store.
New York-based developer Midwood Investment and Development wants to turn the Consumer Fresh Produce building at the corner of 21st Street and Railroad Street into two apartment buildings containing nearly 500 units, a two-floor grocery store and retail space. Plans for the complex also include 344 new parking spaces.
Indovina Associates, the architect behind the project, briefed Pittsburgh’s Planning Commission on their plans during a meeting Tuesday.
