COLUMBIA, S.C. (WCBD) – The South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles is changing its website address and email in 2026 to provide assurance that customers are reaching the legitimate state department.

Officials stated that the change is scheduled to take effect on January 5, 2026. The new website address will be dmv.sc.gov, and all official emails will end in “@dmv.sc.gov.”

During 2026, however, customers who visit the current address scdmvonline.com will be redirected to the new site, and emails sent to former email domains will be forwarded automatically.

“The new website address will make it clear to South Carolinians that they are dealing directly with us, which will be an added barrier to fraud,” said Kevin Shwedo, executive director of the SCDMV.
