With more than 90% of precincts reporting, Des Moines Public Schools officials have declared victory for its $265 million bond that would pay for its Reimagining Education, Reinvigorating Schools plan.

Seventy-four percent votes cast in favor of the bond, far surpassing the 60% needed for approval, district officials wrote in a news release Tuesday, Nov. 4.

“This outcome will have a transformational impact on each pre-K–12 student,” said Interim Superintendent Matt Smith in the statement. “We are so grateful to our voters for their support, and we are especially thankful for all the work of the students, teachers, support staff and community members who developed this plan on the committee and who shared their feedback during our public engagements."
