Northampton County voters in Tuesday’s election faced the possibility of flipping the county council from Democratic to Republican majority.
Instead, the Democratic candidates swept all five races, according to unofficial results posted by the county with all precincts reporting.
On the Democratic side, incumbent President Lori Vargo Heffner led with 48,658 votes, followed by 48,498 for David Holland, 47,318 for Jason Boulette, 47,124 for Theresa Fadem and 43,904 for Nadeem Qayyum, according to the results.
Running on the Republican slate were incumbents John P. Goffredo and John Brown, plus Sam Elias, Daniel Campo and Juan E. Martinez. The unofficial results show Elias took 34,968 votes, followed by 34,534 for Goffredo, 34,340 for Campo, 34,232 for Brown and 32,752 for Martinez.
