The Killeen Police Department announced Tuesday that Quionne Smith, 20, has been charged with murder in regards to a shooting earlier this year that killed 19-year-old Gabriel Lee Garza.

“On Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at approximately 1:42 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 2900 block of Cantabrian Drive in reference to a shooting victim. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Killeen Fire Department EMS responded and began life-saving measures. The victim was transported by ambulance to the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries,” KPD spokeswoman Ofelia Miramontez said in a news release Tuesday.
