NEW YORK (PIX11) – A high wind watch will go into effect on Wednesday as gusts are expected to reach up to 60 mph, according to the National Weather Service.

The agency said scattered showers in the forecast could amplify the winds. Here’s everything you need to know about the incoming storm:

Timing

The high wind watch and a wind advisory start at 9 p.m. and last through 8 a.m. on Thursday. A storm watch for all waters will be in effect from 6 p.m. to Thursday.

The wind is expected to pick up after midnight, according to the NWS.

Wind speeds

For residents under the high wind watch, expect winds to sustain speeds of 20 to 30 mph. Gusts could reach up to 60 mph.

Those under the advisory will likely see winds between 15 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 50 mph.
