MONTICELLO – Republican-Conservative Sullivan County Sheriff Mike Schiff has won another term as the county’s top law enforcement official.

He was the sole candidate on the ballot, but faced a challenge by Tim Dymond as a write-in candidate who ran an aggressive campaign.

“I pledge that our office will continue the work of the dedicated men and women that work at the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office and we will always endeavor to make ourselves better,” Schiff said.

A second write-in candidate was also penned in.

The total for the two write-ins was 4,742 votes, or 35.62 percent of total cast.

Schiff secured 54.38 percent of the votes, or 8,569

Dymond had challenged Schiff in a GOP primary earlier this year.
