If you have evidence that imported steel is being used at a government-funded work site in Canada, steel tycoon Barry Zekelman wants to see it — and he's willing to pay.
The billionaire CEO of Zekelman Industries is offering a $1,000 reward for photo proof of non-Canadian steel on Canadian public projects.
He's set up a website where pics and details can be submitted.
"Call it a snitch line," Zekelman told CBC News. "You're snitching on the government who is bringing in foreign steel at the expense of Canadian workers and Canadian tax dollars."
"We're trying to shine a light on a lot of things that go on — that are probably unintended, but nevertheless happen with public procurement."
