UNION COUNTY, N.C. — A Union County man is facing charges after investigators discovered more than 23,000 illegal images on his electronic devices following a tip sent through social media.
The Union County Sheriff's Office Special Victims Unit received an Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) identified the suspect as Paul Metcalf after the tip and executed a search warrant at his residence, seizing all digital devices.
Metcalf admitted to possessing Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM), according to the sheriff's office. He was arrested and taken to the Union County Detention Center, where he initially received a $200,000 bond.
