ST PAUL, Minn. — St. Paul voters approved a ballot question Tuesday that will allot $37.2 million each year to the school district.

About 65% of voters said yes to the referendum, meaning that for the next 10 years, the district will receive an additional $1,073 for each student per year starting in 2026-27.

In a press release Wednesday, the "Say Yes For SPPS" campaign celebrated the verdict.

“We know times are tough, and we are especially grateful voters recognized the dire situation we're in," said Leah VanDassor, president of the Saint Paul Federation of Educators. "This is a short-term fix to a long-term problem. Educators are committed to working together for more state funding so the burden doesn’t keep falling on local taxpayers.”
