LAFAYETTE, Ind. — One person was taken into custody after a Lafayette fire that killed a dog.
The fire was reported around 10:45 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 30 in the 1300 block of South 4th Street , near Hickory Street.
Responding crews found flames coming from a two-story building and knocked down the fire, locating a family dog who didn't survive.
No other injuries were reported.
The fire remains under investigation, and the Indiana State Fire Marshal's Office was contacted for a K-9 to help collection information.
"One person is in custody with the Lafayette Police Department based on their self-reported involvement in the fire's cause," the fire department said in a statement. "The Lafayette Fire Department currently believes this is an isolated event, and no other parties are involved
