FDNY Commissioner Robert Tucker will step down from his role next month, according to City Hall.
Tucker’s last day will be Friday, Dec. 19, City Hall said Wednesday, without immediately providing details.
Mayor Eric Adams named Tucker commissioner in August 2024. Tucker replaced Laura Kavanagh, the first woman to lead the department. She stepped down earlier that month .
Before he became commissioner, Tucker served as chairman and CEO of T&M USA, a New York City-based global security firm, and sat on the board of directors for the FDNY Foundation, the department’s official not-for-profit.
According to a profile on the group’s website, Tucker began his career with the FDNY as a teenager in the agency's communications office in Manhattan.
