NORMAL ( 25News Now ) - Two Normal firefighters are being recognized for their decision to rescue a boy from a fire, despite imminent risk to their own lives.
The Normal Fire Department had been called early Sunday morning to a burning mobile home in the 800 block of 2nd Street, engulfed in flames and with victims trapped.
Neighbors and police officers told responding firefighters that victims were trapped in the rear bedroom, one of them possibly a baby. Firefighters attempted to enter through the doors, but the fire’s intensity made a traditional interior rescue impossible.
