WASHINGTON COUNTY, Va. (WJHL) — The Washington County, Virginia Sheriff's Office (WCSO) is preparing to provide Christmas presents to underserved children for a sixth year.

On Wednesday, the sheriff's office announced it was once again hosting its "Christmas for Kids" program, and student resource officers are identifying children who need help.

According to Washington County Sheriff Blake Andis, more than 50 children received gifts in 2024, and many of them asked for basic necessities like pillows, socks and shoes.

Children chosen for the program will create a wish list, and the WCSO will purchase the gifts. Santa and elves from the sheriff's office will deliver the presents to the children's homes.
