ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Riding on the endorsement of Mayor Andre Dickens, Marci Collier Overstreet will become the next president of the Atlanta City Council.
As of 1 a.m. Wednesday, Overstreet was leading nonprofit leader Rohit Malhorta with 54 percent (48,700) to Malhorta’s 45 percent (40,904). Those numbers are based on all 180 precincts that have reported.
Overstreet and Malhorta were running to succeed Doug Shipman, who chose not to run for reelection in 2025.

Overstreet is a current member of the city council, representing district 11’s Cascade and Greenbriar in southwest Atlanta.
