ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A cement truck driver died after hitting a power pole and crashing into an embankment on Wednesday morning.

Atlanta police say the driver appears to have been traveling along Marietta Boulevard when they “suddenly veered off the roadway.” They said the truck hit the pole, went over the divider and landed on its side in the embankment at around 7:15 a.m.

First responders extricated the driver and took him to Grady Hospital where he was later pronounced dead, they said.

The driver’s identity has not been released.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
