HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - The battle over a deadly Horry County road rage shooting continues in civil court.
Weldon Boyd filed a lawsuit in Horry County on Monday against lawyer Mark Tinsley.
Authorities said Weldon Boyd, the owner of Buoys on the Boulevard in North Myrtle Beach, shot and killed Scott Spivey in September 2023 along Camp Swamp Road in the Longs area following a road rage incident.
Boyd and his passenger, Kenneth Williams, have maintained they fired shots at Spivey in self-defense.
Tinsley represents Spivey‘s family in a lawsuit filed against Boyd and Williams in June 2024 over his death, however, Tinsley is being sued as an individual and not as a lawyer.
That lawsuit, which alleged that Boyd chased Spivey and that he and Williams killed Spivey in a “hail of gunfire,
