Charles Coste, the oldest living Olympic gold medalist, has died. He was 101.

Coste died on Oct. 30, according to Olympics.com . No cause of death was shared.

Coste won his Olympic gold medal as team captain for France in the team pursuit cycling event at the 1948 Olympics in London. He won alongside teammates Serge Blusson, Fernand Decanali, and Pierre Adam, and the quartet became known as the “ABCD” team due to first letter of their last names.

Coste had been the oldest living Olympic champion since Hungarian gymnast Ágnes Keleti died in January at age 103.

Last year, Coste was the penultimate torchbearer at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics. He passed the torch to French Olympic champions Teddy Riner and Marie-José Pérec.
