SEATTLE — A prominent national bookstore chain appears set to open a new location in downtown Seattle.

Barnes and Noble has filed plans to open at 520 Pike Street, according to construction permits filed with the city. The space was previously occupied by The North Face, which closed in May 2024 according to the Puget Sound Business Journal.

According to the company's website, the new location plans to open in April 2026.

There are two other currently open Barnes and Noble stores in Seattle, one in the University District and the other in Northgate. Western Washington also has locations in Silverdale, Lynnwood, Woodinville, Kirkland, Bellevue, Issaquah and Tukwila.
