A teenager has been arrested following a hate-motivated assault in Ancaster last month, Hamilton police say.
The youth, a 16-year-old male, was charged Tuesday with assault with a weapon and utter threat to cause death or bodily harm, police said in a news release.
In the evening of Oct. 25, a 20-year-old woman was walking near Golf Links Road and Neville Drive, in the Meadowlands neighbourhood, when an unknown vehicle drove up beside her. The people inside said anti-Black, racist slurs and assaulted her.
"No one should be targeted and attacked because of the colour their skin," the Hamilton Anti-Racism Resource Centre said on social media site X, following the teen's arrest.
"We extend our support to the young Black woman who experienced this hateful and traumatic act."
