Warren County voters in the Happy Creek District re-elected a former supervisor in Tuesday's election, unofficial results show.
Republican candidate Tony F. Carter defeated challenger Bryan Scott Turnmeyer to resume his seat on the Board of Supervisors, according to the Virginia Department of Elections preliminary results. Carter will succeed current board Chairman Jerome K. “Jay” Butler who did not seek re-election.
Unofficial results show Carter received 1,868 votes, or 54.16%, out of the 3,449 total cast, compared to Turnmeyer with 1,526 votes, or 44.24%. The 55 write-ins made up the remaining 1.59%.
The county reported a 49.6% voter turnout, with 16,097 ballots cast out of 31,925 registered voters.
