PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- A Central Peoria man was found guilty Wednesday of shooing another person nearly two years ago.

Amorta Nelson was clearly upset over the verdict and bickered with security guards from the Peoria County Sheriff's Office who went to cuff him -- standard policy -- after the jury left the room.

The 25-year-old man was led from the room fairly quickly and right after Chief Peoria County Circuit Judge Katherine Gorman set a Dec. 17 sentencing hearing. Nelson faces at least 45 years and possibly decades more in prison.

Jurors took just shy of three hours to find him guilty of murder and possession of a weapon by a felon in connection with the Sept. 18, 2023, shooting death of Antonio Hardy, 33, who was shot just after 8:20 p.m. while he was getting gas near the intersect
