HARTFORD, Conn. — Hartford's Neighborhood Investment Fund announced its first eight recipients on Wednesday. The small businesses and property owners will split an investment of $2 million from the $5 million project that hopes to revitalize commercial corridors in the capitol city.

“I want to serve the community with a happy face and a big smile, and I want everyone to feel like they’re welcome and they’re appreciated,” said recipient Adrien Dennis, owner of Jam-Dung Supermarket, soon to open on Albany Avenue.

The supermarket, which Dennis purchased last year, will carry several items including Jamaican snacks and food items.

“I been working through it for the whole year refixing it and fixing everything from the ground up,” explained Dennis.
