DOWNTOWN — DON’T BE ALARMED if Cadman Plaza East at Red Cross Place, next to Emergency Management headquarters in Downtown Brooklyn, appears to be in flames Thursday night. A number of small fires, which will be safely contained, will be ignited as part of a Community Emergency Response Team fire safety exercise, taking place from 6:30-9:30 p.m., with FDNY and NYPD personnel on site.
NYC CERT members are volunteers who undergo a training program that provides response skills needed for fire safety, light search and rescue, community disaster support, disaster medical operations and traffic control. See more at NYC.gov/CERT
