JOHNSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) - The man accused of shooting his 10-year-old nephew in Johnson County was arraigned in court on Wednesday.

During Wednesday's arraignment, Joshua Upright's attorney, Ryan Curtis, requested that a mental health evaluation be done before he can be put on trial. Judge Jeffrey Lowe ordered that an evaluation take place.

According to the Johnson County Clerk's office, Upright was out on bail for other charges when arrested for the shooting that took place on Sunday. Because of that, the judge revoked bond for the previous unrelated charges and set bond for the current crime at $1 million.

According to court documents, during the time of Sunday's shooting, the 10-year-old's mother was sleeping on the couch when she said she was woken up by a loud boom.
