BIRMINGHAM, Ala. —
Workers at a business on Birmingham’s Southside are working to move forward after a massive fire.
The blaze on Halloween left 19 people homeless and destroyed four buildings on 20th Street South.
Joshua Mitchell is charged in connection with the fire. He's in the Jefferson County jail with a preliminary hearing set for Dec. 2.
A few of the buildings that burned had apartments on the upper floor, with commercial space on the bottom floors, like Blush Salon. It was in the last building to catch fire. Even though part of their sign is still there, workers tell me the business is a total loss. For the five women who worked at Blush, their workplace was more than just a business.
