BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WMBD) -- The McLean County Museum of History in downtown Bloomington is doing its part to keep the community warm this winter.

The Warming Fence is a place in front of the museum where winter items like hats, gloves and scarves are hung from the fence for the community to take if needed. All of the items are handmade.

"The museum has had a group of knitters and crocheters that participate in our knitting program. We all come together, and we make things knitted or crocheted to help people in need," said Candace Summers, senior director of education for the museum.

This is the museum's second year doing the warming fences and since starting the fence this year on Thursday, Oct. 30, Summers has restocked it five times and given away at least 40 items. Last year, they ga
