PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- The arrest of the Washington woman who gave birth reportedly to a 14-year-old's child has received social media attention for months and also gained national press.
But much of the social media has seemed a rush to judgement. A Peoria defense attorney says it's too soon to convict Polston in the court of public opinion, because that is not the way of the justice system.
Robyn Polston, 43, was charged Monday, Nov. 4 in Tazewell County Circuit Court with two counts each of criminal sexual assault and possession of child porn.
Those charges, Rob Hanauer, of Hanauer Law Office, said are not the burden of proof necessary to determine anyone's innocence or guilt.
