County leaders are considering a $261 million infrastructure agreement with the city of St. Cloud and developer BTI Partners behind two massive new communities.

The project, led by BTI Partners and covering the Edgewater East and West communities, would add nearly 8,800 homes, a town center, new businesses, and more than 10 miles of public roads.

The countywide population is projected to reach 827,000 by 2045, a 60% increase from 2020.

Officials say the new roadway network will improve east-west and north-south connectivity, including extending Cross Prairie Parkway and making improvements to Clay-Whaley Road and Kissimmee Park Road to support both residential and employment centers.
