LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- A proposed 43-acre battery plant in the northwest Las Vegas valley is sparking strong concern among residents.

Neighbors in Skye Canyon and Providence are meeting with Clearway Energy to learn more about the plant – and make their voices heard.

Residents received a letter from Clearway Energy three weeks ago outlining plans for a large energy storage facility near Kyle Canyon Road. Many are concerned about safety, property values, and what this project could mean for the future of their community.

“I'm opposed to it, as I believe most of the neighbors are opposed to it,” resident and neighborhood activist Nathan Taylor said. “They're asking to put in a 43-acre battery plant, where it doesn't belong.”
