MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A local high school football coach has been charged in a drug trafficking conspiracy involving over a dozen Mississippi law enforcement officials and 55 pounds of cocaine.
It was news that left countless across the region shocked. Twenty people were arrested, including 14 Mississippi law enforcement officials, and charged in a multi-state drug trafficking conspiracy that went on for over a year.
However, the shock wave continued in Memphis when it came to light that Torio Chaz Wiseman, the head football coach at Memphis Business Academy, was part of the operation.
Wiseman is accused of accepting bribes for protecting the transportation of illegal narcotics through Mississippi and into Memphis and is believed to have accepted a $5,000 bribe to do so.
