EVERETT, Wash. — Chris Bender spent weeks decorating his Everett home for Halloween — all for the neighborhood kids he and his wife love to celebrate with each year.
But this year's Halloween ended in horror.
Just before 10 p.m., Bender, 47, was run over by a truck full of people who had been terrorizing the residential neighborhood — stealing candy, egging homes and driving recklessly past trick-or-treaters.
Bender believes the suspects are teenagers, and that they hit him deliberately.
"The car was stopped or very close to stopped, and they gunned it. Full on gunned it," Bender said at his mother's home where he's recovering on crutches.
The impact left him with a broken leg, broken rib, a head gash and a concussion.
