SALEM Ore. (KPTV) - Oregon leaders hope a memorandum of understanding will help improve trade relations with the United Kingdom.

Governor Tina Kotek and a representative for the U.K. signed the agreement on Wednesday. Kotek said the memorandum will help create jobs, foster innovation and advance efforts to reach net-zero emissions.

It focuses on developing partnerships across several key economic areas. That includes digital technology, semiconductors, clean energy, transportation services and tourism.

“It’s about creating opportunity, leading on climate action and showing what’s possible when we act across border and across differences,” Kotek said. “Because that is the Oregon way, and that’s the future that we are building together.”
