JACKSONVILLE, Texas — Bobby Michael Dennis , the man accused of shooting a Jacksonville police officer, has been taken into custody.

Chief Steven Markasky confirmed to CBS19 Dennis was taken into custody Wednesday night. Dennis is accused of shooting a Jacksonville officer Sunday night, injuring her and her K-9 unit. He evaded capture by police and law enforcement, prompting a manhunt for his arrest.

The officer was airlifted to a Tyler hospital and later deemed to be in stable condition, suffering a gunshot wound to her arm and leg. Her K-9 unit, "Renzo," was treated at a Tyler-area emergency vet after he was shot through the door of the officer's patrol vehicle.
