HENDERSON COUNTY, Texas — After nearly 40 years of investigating, a suspect has been named in the 1987 murder of an East Texas man who was found dead under a bridge thanks to DNA evidence.
On March 8, 1987, the body of Rickey Herriage was found beneath a bridge on County Road 1500 in Henderson County. Despite deputies' best efforts, the case remained unsolved for decades.
Now, in 2025, DNA testing has led officials to name Dallas Reynolds Casanova as the potential suspect. Casanova lived in Henderson County at the time of the murder and later died in 2008 in New Orleans, Louisiana, the Henderson County Sheriff's Office announced Friday.
