GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - Hundreds of people in Door County have shared their opinions with the DNR on a permit request from Gilbert Farms.

The farm wants to add nearly 1,000 animal units by 2026.

Some who spoke say they’re concerned about environmental impacts, but not everyone agrees.

Around 300 people voiced their concerns in person and online at the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources hearing.

It centered around an expansion permit for Gilbert Farms to operate as a concentrated animal feeding operation, or CAFO.

Many share similar concerns about potential impacts to water and air quality.
