HOWARD, Wis. (WBAY) - A home near Bay View Middle School in Howard was destroyed by a fire early Thursday morning.
At the time of this writing, authorities didn’t know if anyone was inside the house during the fire.
Howard Fire Chief Dennis Staeven says they received multiple calls just after 2:30 in the morning about the fire on the 1300 block of Rockwell Rd.
They encountered heavy flames when they arrived, and firefighters couldn’t enter the house because of the risk of collapse.
“There was only a brief entry into the structure. That was after the fire was under control. But the structure itself is severely damaged where there’s significant collapse going on, so right now it’s not safe enough for firefighters to enter,” Chief Staeven told us.
Crews were forced to attack the fire fro
