MANOR, Texas — Two school districts in Central Texas are figuring out their next steps after voters rejected multi-million dollar proposals.

In Manor ISD, three propositions totaling $385 million failed to pass on Tuesday night, and in Hays CISD, a proposed 12-cent tax rate increase also failed. Without the money, tough decisions are ahead.

“As a principal, I hurt for my students because that would benefit our kids,” Bluebonnet Trail Elementary Principal Charlie Rodriguez said. “As a principal, I also hurt for my staff as well, because I know that they're working in these environments now.”

Superintendent Robert Sormani said much of the district’s infrastructure is decades old and in need of modernization.
