CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The final juror was seated on Wednesday in the Scott Brooks murder trial, but the courts still need to choose four alternates before opening statements can begin.

Attorneys said they hope to have the alternates selected on Thursday. If that happens, opening statements will start on Friday.

The trial centers on the December 2019 murder of Scott Brooks, who was shot and killed at his family business, Brooks Sandwich House, during a robbery attempt.

Wednesday, the 12th juror was chosen to hear the case against Terry Connor and Steven Staples, the two men accused of killing Brooks at the iconic restaurant.

The jury includes four men and eight women representing a mix of backgrounds, including Hispanic, Asian, Black, and white jurors.
