On Thursday at 1:10 a.m. a wind advisory was released by the National Weather Service in effect until 8 a.m. for Westchester and Suffolk counties.

The weather service states to expect, "Northwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts 45 to 55 mph. Localized higher gusts up to 60 mph possible."

"Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Frost could harm sensitive outdoor vegetation. Sensitive outdoor plants may be killed if left uncovered," explains the weather service. "Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution. Secure outdoor objects. Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold."
