Having some work done at your home? Keep an eye for suspicious emails.
For the second time in the last few weeks, a Barrington resident who had filed paperwork with the town for a home construction project later received an email ordering them to pay an additional fee for the work. In both cases, the emails were bogus, police said.
“These messages are soliciting fees or money for local projects. The Barrington Planning Director will never send an email to an applicant asking for electronic payment of fees,” stated a message from the Barrington Police Department.
