WESTERLY — An hours-long line of questioning of a local attorney experienced in title law and land use took up much of the second meeting of the Coastal Resources Management Council's public hearing Tuesday on whether to accept the Spring Avenue extension as a right-of-way to the shore.
The initial session on Sept. 15 allowed the public to weigh in on the case. This time, it was attorneys for three parties — the Town of Westerly as the proponent, the Weekapaug Fire District in opposition, and an intervenor in the matter — that spoke.
Lawyers for the town and fire district gave brief opening statements before the state council's Rights-of-Way Subcommittee at the Westerly Senior Center, before an audience that was smaller than the one that packed the Town Council chambers in September.
