The East Providence girls soccer team suffered a heartbreaking 1-0 overtime loss to Prout after two rounds of penalty kicks during the Division 2 semifinals at home on Thursday night.

The two teams battled to a scoreless tie after 80 minutes of regulation play and two 5-minute overtime periods. The game went to penalty kicks and was still tied after the first 5 players kicked for each team. The Townies finally fell during the second round of penalty kicks.

Amalia Amico, Katherine Amado, Victoria Capelo, Sam Rodrigues, Nadiyah Calouro Vargas, Vanessa Swanson and Zophia Slaughter all scored for East Providence in the shootout. Goalkeeper Sadie Gagnon saved two penalty shots and made 6 saves during regulation and overtime.
