Cameras caught St. Louis Blues goalie Jordan Binnington doing the wildest thing with Alexander Ovechkin’s milestone 900th goal puck during Wednesday night’s game at Capital One Arena.

Early in the second period of Wednesday’s showdown, the NHL’s all-time leading scorer netted his 900th career goal with a slick backhand shot past Binnington. With that lamplighter, Alexander Ovechkin became the first player in NHL history to reach the 900-goal mark:

When an NHL player scores a milestone goal, it’s standard for the goalie to hand the puck over to the goalie, who will ensure its safekeeping. But for some strange reason, Binnington decided to do something completely unsportsmanlike with the puck.
