DENVER (KDVR) -- A 14-year-old boy was killed in a crash in Kit Carson County on Wednesday, and two other teenagers were airlifted to hospitals with critical and serious injuries.
The crash happened around 11:39 a.m. on Highway 385 about a mile and a half north of Burlington. The road was closed for the investigation until about 4:40 p.m.
Colorado State Patrol said in a press release that a 2001 Ford Focus with four male teenagers inside was stopped waiting to turn left at the intersection of Kit Carson County Road X when it was hit from behind.
The agency said a 21-year-old woman was driving a Jeep northbound and rear-ended the Ford. both vehicles went off the road and into a nearby field.
A 14-year-old boy who was in the back seat of the Ford was pronounced dead on the scene.
