INDIANA — The Indiana Youth Institute (IYI) announced a bold, statewide initiative on Tuesday aimed at strengthening support networks for Hoosier children, to ensure every child has at least five supportive adults in their life by 2050.
The initiative, branded “FIVE by 50,” was unveiled at the 2025 KIDS COUNT Conference in Indianapolis. It seeks to intentionally connect children with multiple adults who can provide mentorship, guidance, and encouragement, drawing on research that shows a direct link between these relationships and improved child wellbeing.
