MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis International Airport is on a list of airports set to see air traffic cut by 10% due to a shortage of air traffic controllers, CBS News is reporting.
The Federal Aviation Administration announced Wednesday it would cut air traffic at dozens of the nation's busiest airports starting Friday, which could lead to thousands of flights canceled.
According to a list provided to CBS, Memphis is one of those airports along with Atlanta, Dallas, New York City and Los Angeles. Forty airports in total are on the list.
The federal government shutdown, the longest in the country's history, has had air traffic controllers working without pay since Oct. 1.
