TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - It’s not easy for schools to convince residents in their district to spend more on public education, but all of the propositions that would do just that, all appear to be on their way to passage.

It would be the first time in almost 40 years a TUSD override will pass. It’s one of three propositions for increased funds to school districts in the county.

Sunnyside and Flowing Wells are the other two.

“They deserve the best and it’s never a good time but we had to ask our community for this,” Sunnyside Unified School District Superintendent Jose Gastelum said.

The districts attributed the success to the public acknowledgement that schools need local taxpayer support.
